This type of “automation” allows us to complete a variety of tasks every day without exerting too much mental energy. But the subconscious mind’s work doesn’t end with autopilot activities.

Your subconscious mind includes subjective maps of reality. In other words, the building blocks of your worldview or paradigm.

These thoughts and ideas get so deeply embedded in your mind that you rarely examine them. In fact, you probably take them for granted.

But neglecting your subconscious mind can lead to unintended consequences. Whether or not you choose to acknowledge the thoughts buried in your mind, they still shape your every thought, belief, and decision.

The Dangers of Auto Pilot

The subconscious mind doesn’t create or innovate. It can’t even distinguish between “reality” and “fantasy.” Instead, it curates and interprets information based on your predominant thoughts, no matter how inaccurate.

Then, based on the thoughts and images imprinted on it, your subconscious strives to attract or create the same circumstances. Why? Because this permits your brain to switch to autopilot and conserve energy.

You may have preconceived notions about the word “mantra,” especially if you have familiarity with the Buddhist or Hindu spiritual traditions. But, we’re going to focus on mantras in their purely Western sense.

A mantra is a phrase used to replace incessant thoughts, particularly negative ones, with positive ones. This mantra doesn’t have to have any type of sacred significance.

In fact, it doesn’t have to have any significance for anyone else but you. So, how do you know which mantra you should use?

As you meditate, you’ll uncover negative thoughts that tenaciously crowd out all others. Find the most aggressive of these, turn it into a positive statement, and repeat it mentally throughout the day.

Ask, Believe, & Receive

This technique comes from the groundbreaking bestseller The Secret by Rhonda Byrne (2006).

Start by asking the universe for what you want instead of focusing on what you don’t want. Make an intentional decision to focus on one “want” and then immerse yourself in positive thoughts.

Second, believe that you’ll get it. This can be among the hardest steps in the process because it’s so easy to lack faith. Instead, stay positive and maintain uplifted expectations about receiving your request.  

Third, prepare to receive what you’ve asked for by “tuning” yourself to its vibration. Just as musicians tune their instruments before a performance, you need to change your vibrational frequency to welcome what you’ve requested.

In other words, if its prosperity you’re after, then “tune” your daily thoughts to abundance.
