Boost your brain activity: how to train your brain properly

Have you ever wondered how much potential is in your brain? Many people believe that people are born with a fixed mindset and specific intellectual abilities. But that’s not true. Scientists have proven that the brain can and should be trained.

A new theory, which replaces the one that viewed the brain as predetermined by nature, is called neuroplasticity. According to this theory, the human brain changes under the influence of experience. Whether those changes are positive or negative is up to you.

How to prepare the brain for improvement?

The brain is sensitive to both external and internal factors. You can train it, but that’s not enough. For training to bring the desired result, it is worth starting with the correction of your lifestyle.

Even though it is not quite correct, people compare the brain to muscles. It is possible to go to the gym every day and do exercises correctly, but not to get beautiful muscle relief, if you prevent the muscles from developing inside, for example, by consuming little protein.

Physical activity

The first thing you should do is eliminate physical inactivity. Insufficient physical activity slows down the breakdown of fats, which can lead to the formation of cholesterol plaques on the blood vessel walls. As a result, blood circulation worsens and the brain gets less oxygen and nutrients. So its efficiency decreases.

Sleep and drinking regimen

A person who wants to develop a brain should drink lots of clean water and get enough sleep. Water cleanses the body. And quality daily sleep helps the brain to recover. During sleep, the data obtained during the day are processed and “saved” in the long-term memory. Sometimes it’s really better to wonder who can write my essay and have some healthy sleep time instead.

Nutrition

Your brain needs a variety of nutrients to function properly, with phosphates and healthy carbohydrates at the top of the list. Add fish, yogurt, seafood, milk, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, nuts, whole grains, and legumes to your diet. Avoid alcohol.

How to develop the brain?

All data coming into the brain is processed by both hemispheres. However, the processes responsible for inference, logic, analysis, calculation, and speech take precedence in the left hemisphere. And those that provide a perception of the world around, dreams, orientation in space – in the right hemisphere.

Conclusion: it is necessary to develop both hemispheres. If you constantly train the ability to see beauty, you can become creative, but have difficulties with solving simple arithmetic tasks. If you develop analytical capabilities, you can lose the ability to admire works of art. That is why universities teach disciplines unrelated to the specialty.

Exercise your brain

Find a hobby that requires mental activity. This can be dancing, playing the guitar, learning new languages or unfamiliar words in your native language, chess, poker, or solving puzzles. These activities will increase the speed of information processing, strengthen the synapses, and expand the brain’s neural networks, creating new connections. Note! The brain “grows” exactly at the moment when it seems to you that it rejects new information.

Get out of your comfort zone

Don’t allow your brain to stay in its comfort zone and do its work “on autopilot,” or it will “get used” to it. And its willingness to get out of this state at any second, helps it to stay young. Recommendation! If you don’t load the brain with processing unfamiliar information, the neuronal dendrites that transmit data will begin to actively shrink. Try to have new experiences regularly, and then the dendritic networks will expand, increasing brain plasticity. How to start? Change the way you go to work. Cook new meals for dinner. Take up a different sport. Do you like fiction? Try to read a thriller.

Read every day

Right now, as you read this text, your brain is decoding visual symbols, processing them, analyzing and synthesizing complex ideas. Besides, while reading, the same neurons are engaged as you are experiencing what you are describing in your personal experience. All this helps to improve brain function.

Meditate

Meditation is usually associated only with mental and physical relaxation. But in fact, it increases the amount of gray matter in areas of the brain that are responsible for attention and sensory processing.
