Feng Shui Fountain Guide

Water fountains are a very popular form of feng shui cures. They are available in free-standing, wall-mounted, tabletop, and other water feature styles. In fact, practically any type of water feature may be used for providing feng shui benefits. Powerful water energy is introduced by fountains, which in feng shui symbolizes prosperity and wealth.

Fountains may be placed outside or inside an office or home. You need to be careful about where you put a feng shui fountain so that you prevent any imbalances or conflicts and to offer energy that is the most nourishing. Check out these indoor fountain ideas to inspire you.

The Benefits from Using a Feng Shui Fountain

In feng shui, fountains are really popular since they can add water element energy, which is one of the five elements of feng shui. The other elements are metal, wood, earth, and fire.

Water in feng shui can provide you with prosperity and wealth. The power of water is enhanced due to it being able to change form – going from a liquid to gas or a solid. It has freedom of expression or movement. Water is relied on by all living things on earth for life. When the water element is activated into your office or home, it promotes abundance, encourages new beginnings, enhances your life journey, and nourishes chi energy.

How To Select a Feng Shui Fountain

For a fountain to be used as a feng shui cure, it doesn’t need to have an Asian or Chinese appearance. No feng shui cures, in fact, need to have an Asian design to provide good feng shui energy. The best thing is when a fountain works in harmony with your individual home decorating style.

A fountain can be made from nearly any type of material, including concrete, ceramic, plastic, wood, or stone. Choose a quality fountain with a silent motor and design that is easy to clean. You should avoid any fountains that have any sharp corners or sharp edges. Small fountains holding less than one gallon of water will need to be topped off every day or even more frequently. Fountains that have a larger basin will not need to be refilled as often.

A good way to make the fountain’s beneficial energy stronger (which is referred to as sheng chi) is putting stones or crystals inside the fountain basin. You can also select a fountain that can disperse essential oil into the air for additional benefits.

Where To Locate A Feng Shui Fountain

Determining the best location for a feng shui fountain is based on bagua, which is feng shui’s energy map of the space, along with the interaction of the five elements of feng shui. Usually, the best places for putting a feng shui fountain are in the north, southeast, and east areas of an office or home. Those are the areas that often concern your career, money, wealth, family, and health.

East: This is the family and health area. It is also the home of bagua element wood. The water element is nourishing for wood. A cure in that area helps to promote mental, spiritual, and physical health and also helps with maintaining harmony and peace within a family.

Southeast: This is the area of abundance or money and wealth. It shares the wood element within the east bagua area. When a fountain is placed in the southeast area it is good for a wealth of blessings in addition to monetary wealth.

North: This area is associated with your career path. Water is its element and is the ideal place to put your water fountain.

Areas To Not Place Feng Shui Fountains In

A fountain can provide your home with nourishing energy. However, if it isn’t placed in the right location it can also cause problems. The main locations that you should avoid putting a fountain in are under staircases, in the bedroom, and in the south bagua area.

It is not advised to put any water feature or fountain in the south area since that area needs strong energy from the fire element. If water is placed there, it creates conflict energy. In the five-element cycle of feng shui, water puts out the fire. That can impair the flow of positive energy of feng shui within your home.

Having a water feature inside a bedroom is also not a good idea, no matter what the feng shui location of the bedroom is in the house. The water element can introduce sorrow and worry into the bedroom and may contribute to respiratory problems and colds. A fountain should also not be placed in an area that is directly under a bedroom. You may hear the fountain from your bedroom if it is in an adjacent room, especially while you are sleeping.

Finally, a fountain should not be positioned directly underneath the staircase, and that can promote negative energy which may result in health problems as well as other misfortunes to your household’s children.
