You don’t have to go to the gym to stay in shape. You just need motivation, determination, and a little bit of room to exercise at home. Callisthenics is a form of exercise that involves using your body weight to perform exercises, like push-ups, sit-ups, and dips. You can also go outdoors and exercise or participate in sports.

Exercising is a fantastic way of transforming your health and taking control of your life. If you think that you need to exercise, then this post has got you covered. Here are some very effective exercises that can keep you in shape, without the need for a gym:

Callisthenic Exercises

Callisthenic exercises are by far this list’s most effective option for staying in shape without going to the gym because they can be very intense forms of workout. The most effective callisthenic exercises are pull-ups, sit-ups, dips, squats, and of course, push-ups. In order to perform these exercises and see results, you need to make sure that your form is perfect. The best way to learn proper form is to read online guides and watch video tutorials. The internet’s certainly not short on informative exercise guides and videos. If you do not get your form perfect, then you won’t be able to make any meaningful changes to your body. The better your form is, the more stress you will put on your body, and the bigger your muscles will grow.

Regular Hikes

Hiking is another effective form of exercise that doesn’t require access to a gym. While it is theoretically possible to go hiking anywhere, if you want to strengthen your body and benefit from hiking, then it’s a good idea to hike large hills and mountains. The reason for this is that hiking steep hills and mountains helps to build muscle and also builds bodily endurance. One of the best things about hiking is that you don’t have to pay to do it. As long as you’re in a national park or a public outdoor space, then you can hike for free.

Going Jogging

Jogging is a very effective form of exercise, although if practised for long periods of time it can cause a lot of damage to your legs and heels. The best way to minimise damage when jogging is to jog barefoot on grass, rather than on the street. While it takes a long time for the damage caused by jogging to manifest, it eventually will. More often than not it results in joint pain, which consequently stops people from being able to continue jogging in their old age. Jogging barefoot on grass however is very good for you and doesn’t damage your heels, feet, or joints.

Swimming

Swimming is an exercise that can build endurance and muscle but isn’t free. Unless you have a swimming pool in your backyard or have access to a lagoon, then you will have to pay for entry to swimming pools. Most gyms have swimming pools, as do leisure centres. You can also find public pools, but nowadays you have to pay for the privilege to use them. Despite all of this, swimming is a good way to exercise without having to enter a weightlifting room.

Practising Yoga

Yoga is a form of exercise that’s very good for your joints. While yoga alone isn’t enough to strengthen your body and keep you in good shape, it complements other forms of exercise very well. Many people find that practising yoga is a great way of warming down after they have performed callisthenic exercises. If you are going to try out callisthenic exercises, then it’s a very good idea to also take up yoga practice. You can practice yoga at home by following online videos or guides. There are also yoga classes that you can attend if you feel confident enough to do so.

Combat Sports

One last form of exercise to consider that doesn’t require you to go to a gym is combat sports. With that said, in order to practice combat sports, you will likely need to attend a studio. If you don’t want to go to a professional studio and train with other people, then you can hire private tutors who will teach you at home or outdoors in the park. Combat sports are a great way of building muscle and learning to defend yourself, which is great considering that crime is rising throughout the United States, and the world’s becoming a lot more dangerous.

If you want to get in shape but don’t want to have to deal with people staring at you in the gym, then you do have a few options. The gym isn’t the only place to get in shape. Simply follow this post’s guidance and you will be on the road to fitness and good health in no time.
