Is Roulette Luck Or Strategy?

There are many opinions among gamblers as to whether the game of roulette can be considered luck or strategy.

However, when you play online, the use of random number generators for roulette games makes sure that the game is mostly luck, which means that it does not bias a result in any way.

The key characteristic of random number generator technology is that the algorithm is coded in a way that means that it has no memory whatsoever of the results of previous spins.

Though, there are more experienced roulette players, who while accepting that roulette is based around luck, know how they can increase their chances of winning while playing the game, by applying certain strategies. Some, in fact, are quite well known.

Let’s take a look at some of the strategies that players apply while they are playing.

Manage your bankroll

This is advised for most online casino games, though due to the more fast-paced nature of roulette, this is particularly important. Online casino comparison site, Best Casino, stressed the importance of this.

“There are many roulette players, particularly those who are new to the online gambling world, who do not keep an eye on their bankroll while they are playing.

“They might lose quite a lot in one go and adopt the mentality that their luck might change, so try and chase their losses. This can actually lead to difficulties and sometimes before you know it, you have wagered a lot more than you can afford on the spin of a wheel.

“That is why it is so important to gamble responsibly.”

Hedge your bets

What many people aren’t aware of is that you can increase your chances of winning by applying certain types of bets. As such, instead of simply betting on the colour or a number, you can engage in cluster bets.

One example that is available is a corner bet, which is where when you look at the numbers that you want to select, this is presented in a grid. When you choose a corner bet, this means that you have four chances of winning.

Another type of bet is a street bet, where you can choose three numbers that are next to each other on the roulette grid, along each row, while the dozens bet, which pays 2:1 gives you 12 chances of winning.

Martingale Strategy

This is just one of the most famous strategies that you have in the game of roulette. However, this is also one of the riskier ones. The theory is that every time that you lose a bet, you double your bet, with the idea being that you will eventually win. While this is in no way proven, if you are going to try it, the best thing to do is choose a roulette game with a low minimum bet.

Fibonacci Strategy

One for the more conservative roulette player and is related to the famous mathematician, Leonardo Fibonacci, being based on even money bets where you have a 50 percent chance of winning. It is based on using a sequence of numbers where the next number you choose equals the sum of the previous two, starting with one. Again, while this is not at all proven to work, it is a strategy that some people do use.
