Whether you suffer from anxiety, stress, depression or any other negativity in your life, positive affirmations can help you in so many ways.
Before using positive affirmations properly though we first have to understand what are positive affirmations, what they do and how they work. Also, using positive affirmations can change your life for the better.
Positive affirmations, simply put, are positive statements that you make to yourself. You are your own life coach. Positive affirmations can also help in setting new life goals for yourself.
For instance, if you hate your job and want a new career just tell yourself something positive like “I’m worth more than $8 an hour, there is something out there better for me and I’m going to take it!”.
The first step in changing your life using positive affirmations is by stopping negative self-talk and thoughts. This can be about anything. You think you’re over weight, you feel you’re not good enough for something or someone, or you’re not a smart person. Whatever the case may be, by first stopping these negative thoughts and talk you are taking the first right step.
Your subconscious believes everything you think. If you think negatively then you show negativity. I will use me as an example to this. I suffered from being over weight for a long period of my life. I believed and my subconscious believed that I was an ugly person. Because of these thoughts, I showed it on the outside.
I looked stressed, tired, didn’t even try to make myself look good and I wasn’t nice to other people. Before losing weight I had to show the world I loved me for me. I changed my thoughts first before my outer self. [mks_pullquote align=”right” width=”250″ size=”15″ bg_color=”#3fb50c” txt_color=”#ffffff”]Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right. (Henry Ford)[/mks_pullquote]I told me I am beautiful, that I loved myself and I WILL change not try but WILL. My personality changed completely and I found myself beating men off with a stick, why? Because men and women equally love a person who has high confidence. By utilizing positive affirmations in your life you’ll boost your self confidence levels through the roof!
Positive affirmations can also be used not just by talking yourself up but by talking others up as well. I know you must have a couple negative people in your life that you have to put up with. I do too. There is one particular person in my family that constantly puts themselves down. The negative energy affects me unless I take control of the situation. You can too.
By using positive affirmations in conversation with them, they will not only start to do the same in their alone time but will also not bring you down any more with their negative sayings. Whatever you do, no matter how frustrated you get with this person, don’t give up. If you give up on them then you’re giving up on yourself too.
When this person starts to talk negatively, change what they said around to something positive. For instance, the person in my life recently lost their job. They came to me talking about how they are such an awful person and worthless. I listened and didn’t stop them.
After they were done talking I explained to them that when you think these thoughts you will indeed have a hard time finding a new job and will want to give up. I told this person all their good qualities as well as everything they have to bring to the table for a new job.
I told them to keep telling themselves that and soon the right opportunity will come their way. A month later, they got a new job and are much happier with their hours, pay and life. You can do that too for a loved one and a good friend.
Have you ever heard the saying “you can’t love someone else unless you love yourself?” This saying is very true. We may not be happy with the body and or the personality we were given but we can not go to the store and buy a new one.
It isn’t that simple. We can however alter ourselves into a better person. We are clay that can be molded, in a good way or a bad way.
The goal with positive affirmations is to mold yourself into a beautiful vase that will sit in the center of the room for all to see and admire not a candy dish that will soon collect dust and be sold at a flea market. Start molding yourself into that vase today.
Make a list of the things that you want to change, bad thoughts, the way you look at yourself and the way you look at others. Then on the other side of the list write down positive affirmations to start thinking and saying.
Say these things to yourself every day!
It may feel strange at first but in due time it will be second nature and you won’t have to say them to yourself anymore. It will be the new you. The positive you that everybody loves and wants to be. No matter the case or situation, you are a beautiful person inside and out. Now show the world by using positive affirmations today the true person you’re met to be.
