You’ve probably seen Hekate’s name pop up in astrology circles and wondered what she’s doing in a birth chart. Maybe a witchy TikTok got your attention, or maybe, like me, you found her sitting in a very intense spot in your own chart and suddenly everything clicked. (Mine is conjunct my 3rd House Lilith and trine my 12th House Moon, no wonder my life feels like a gothic novel sometimes.)
Who Is Hekate In Astrology?
In mythology, Hekate (or Hecate) is the Greek goddess of magic, crossroads, ghosts, and liminal spaces. She holds the torch at thresholds, guiding souls through transitions and protecting those who walk between worlds.
In astrology, asteroid Hekate (100) carries that same energy. She represents:
- The pull toward hidden knowledge and intuitive wisdom
- A fascination with witchcraft, ritual, and the unseen
- The places in life where you face crossroads and turning points
- Deep shadow work and transformation that feels ancient, almost fated
- Sometimes even protection on the road, especially if you’re traveling to risky or dangerous destinations
When Hekate touches something important in your chart, the Moon, the Sun, Lilith, Mars, Chiron, or even your angles, her presence is hard to ignore. You may feel guided by synchronicities, haunted by uncanny dreams, or drawn again and again toward the occult, as if some part of you has always belonged there.
How To Find Hekate In Your Chart
Finding her placement is easier than you’d think.
Step 1: Go to Astro-Seek
Use the free asteroid calculator on Astro-Seek.
- Enter your birth date, time, and location.
- Select “Extended Chart Selection.”
- Under Talent & Muse Asteroids, check Hekate (100).
- Generate your chart.
Step 2: Interpret Her Placement
Now, look at where she lands.
- The house shows the life area where her energy plays out.
- The aspects show how she weaves into your story.
For example:
- Hekate in the 8th or 12th House often points to deep psychic sensitivity.
- Conjunct Moon or Lilith? That’s emotional intuition with an edge.
- Squaring Mars? Expect power struggles and an unshakable will.
The tighter the aspect, the stronger her influence. With asteroids like Hekate, I usually keep the orb small, about 2 degrees or less, since anything wider tends to fade into the background.
My Hekate Story
When I first added Hekate to my chart, I didn’t expect much. But there she was at 18° Gemini, sitting right on my 18° Lilith in the 3rd House, and trining my 18° Moon in the 12th house. to the exact degree.
That explained so much. I’ve always had dreams that feel like warnings, conversations with people I’ve never met, and flashes of insight that come out of nowhere. I’ve been drawn to the dark, to witches and mysticism, almost to the point of obsession. My intuition has always been sharp, sometimes uncomfortably so. With Pluto in my 8th House and Pisces Rising already soaking my chart in mystery, Hekate’s placement felt like the missing puzzle piece.
The synchronicity was wild too: TikTok suddenly decided to flood me with Hekate content right before I checked. As if she wanted to make sure I was paying attention.
Why You Should Check Yours
If you’ve ever felt drawn to the occult, noticed patterns and coincidences that follow you, or carried a gut feeling that you can’t explain but always trust, Hekate might have something to do with it. Her asteroid can point to where your intuition sharpens, where you face life’s crossroads, and where you’re asked to step into your power, even when it feels a little terrifying or “dark”.
Finding Her in Your Story
Hekate in your chart isn’t just trivia. She’s a reminder that some parts of you move in shadow, guided by wisdom older than logic. If her placement is strong, you may be the one friends turn to for tarot readings, the one who feels the energy shift in a room before anyone speaks, or the one who thrives in transformation when others fall apart.
So pull up your chart, add asteroid 100, and see where she waits. You might just find she’s been standing at your crossroads all along, torch in hand.
(P.S. If you get hooked, don’t stop at Hekate. Check out Circe (34), Medusa (149), and Persephone (399) too. The goddess asteroids always have more to say.)
