An Extra Vertebra: Spiritual Meaning & Occult Symbolism

An old Czech book on Hermetic magic describes an unusual way to recognize someone with supernatural abilities: look for an extra vertebra. According to the book, an additional bone in the spine could mark a magician or someone born with unusual spiritual abilities.

Spiritually, an extra vertebra symbolizes heightened sensitivity, stronger intuition, and a deeper connection with energies beyond the physical world. The spine has long been associated with rising energy and higher consciousness, so an additional vertebra was seen as one extra point along that energetic path.

Medically, an extra vertebra is an anatomical variation and has no established connection with supernatural abilities. In occult symbolism, however, that hidden difference in the spine became associated with magical potential and spiritual sensitivity.
