The Tragedy of The Titanic Submersible
In a devastating turn of events on 18 June 2023, Titan, a submersible controlled by OceanGate, an American tourism and expeditions company, experienced a catastrophic implosion while on a mission to explore the Titanic’s wreckage in the North Atlantic Ocean.
The Titanic, as you may know, sank in 1912 after hitting an iceberg. The wreckage has always been a subject of fascination for many, and numerous attempts have been made to explore and document it.
Besides Christine’s son and husband, there were three other individuals onboard the submersible , making a total of five. The exact reason behind the accident remains uncertain, although there are theories suggesting that it might be due to implosion and the immense water pressure, resulting in the instantaneous demise of all the passengers.
According to recent interviews, Christine shared that her husband and son share a special bond as best friends. She also mentioned that it has always been their shared dream to embark on a submersible journey to the Titanic.
It was actually Christine who was supposed to embark on the exciting submersible journey. However, just before the departure, she made a spontaneous decision to switch places with her son, allowing him to experience the thrilling submersible expedition instead.
“I took a step back and gave Suleman the opportunity to go, as it was something he truly desired.”
Christine told the BBC
It’s quite disheartening to come across comments online blaming her for the death of her son. Such remarks are completely unjustified, as nobody could have predicted what was going to happen. Besides, it was actually his dream, not hers. As a parent, you naturally want the best for your children, including the realization of their dreams.
May the souls of all the submersible passengers find eternal peace, and may Christine find solace and tranquility during this time of mourning.
