We all want to be happy, but sometimes it can feel like happiness is just out of reach. Maybe you’ve tried chasing after external things like success or money, only to find that they don’t bring the lasting satisfaction you were looking for.
So how can you find true happiness? The answer might surprise you: it starts from within. By taking the time to get to know yourself and what makes you tick, you can start building the foundation for a life of joy and contentment.
Here are some tips to get started.
Start By Being Grateful For What You Have
One key way to find happiness within yourself is practicing gratitude. Gratitude allows you to acknowledge the positive things in your life, even when things are tough.
When you take time to appreciate the good things in your life, it can help you see the world in a more positive light and find joy in everyday moments. So if you’re looking for ways to be happier, start by being grateful for what you have.
Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.
Oprah Winfrey
There are many ways to start each day with gratitude. One way is to set an intention for the day, either first thing in the morning or the night before, and then throughout the day be aware of things that happen that match your intention. For example, if you intend to focus on gratitude today, you may become aware of all the little things throughout the day that you’re grateful for – a warm cup of coffee, a sunny day, a helpful co-worker, etc.
Another way to start each day with gratitude is to keep a gratitude journal and write down three things you’re grateful for each morning. This can help shift your focus to the positive and set the tone for a grateful day. Over time, you should find that gratefulness becomes more natural and habitual. Whatever method you choose, gratitude is the key to happiness because you will find that so many good things have been happening around you that you have overlooked.
Focus On Personal Development
When we work on ourselves and become the best versions of ourselves, we often find that our lives become more fulfilling and satisfying. We may not achieve all of our goals, but the process of striving towards them can make us happier than if we never attempted them at all.
Additionally, personal development can help us achieve our goals and reach our full potential. By focusing on becoming our best selves, we can live happier, more fulfilling lives.
With self-discipline most anything is possible
Theodore Roosevelt
Don’t forget to strive for progress, not perfection! When we aim for perfection, we’re often left feeling disappointed and frustrated with ourselves. But when we focus on setting goals and measuring our progress over time, we’re more likely to feel happy with ourselves since we’re constantly moving forward.
Become A Lightworker
Do you often have a strong desire to help others, and feel called to serve in some way? Do you have a constant urge to make the world a better place? You are more than likely a lightworker!
A lightworker is someone who brings light and love into the world. They are healers, teachers, and guides who help others to find their own inner light. Lightworkers are often highly sensitive and compassionate people.
Sometimes the universe turns off all the lights so we have no choice but to find our own.
Rebecca Campbell
One important way to unlock your highest potential as a lightworker is by connecting with your higher self. When you’re connected with your higher self, you have a greater sense of purpose and direction in life, and you’re able to access guidance and wisdom that can help you achieve your goals.
- Connect with your higher self and develop a relationship with your guides and angels. This will help you to access divine guidance and support as you work towards your goals.
- Study spiritual teachings and develop a deeper understanding of the universe and your place within it. This will give you knowledge and wisdom to draw upon when faced with challenges or obstacles.
- Spend time in nature, connecting with the elements and the natural rhythms of the earth. This can help to ground and center you and restore your energy.
Remember that as a lightworker, you have the power to make positive change happen. Use your gifts to help others and make the world a better place. Embrace your unique role and let your light shine!
Live In The Present Moment
The present moment is the only moment in which we can take action. The past is gone and the future has not yet arrived. It may sound like a quote from a dramatic movie, but in reality, it is something we’re aware of, but not everyone wants to admit it. If we are always living in the past or the future, we are not really living at all.
The present moment is a time of peace and joy. When we are fully immersed in the present moment, we aren’t worrying about the past or fretting about the future. We are simply enjoying what is happening right now. And that’s a good thing because life is happening right now, not yesterday and not tomorrow.
Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life.
Eckhart Tolle
If you don’t know how to get started or find it difficult to live in the present moment, try these tips:
- Pay attention to your breath and use it as an anchor to bring you back to the present whenever you find yourself getting lost in thoughts about the past or future.
- Practice mindfulness meditation or another form of mindfulness training.
- Make a commitment to living in the present moment as much as possible and notice when you catch yourself drifting off into thoughts about other times or places. Acknowledge those thoughts and then let them go, returning your focus to the here and now.
