Let me share something interesting I recently came across while reading Martin Schulman’s book on karmic astrology. This man is one of the best authors on the subject that I’ve found. Anyway, in his book, he talks about the “part of regeneration” and the “part of dependency” – two points in your horoscope that reveal how your soul can regenerate and what kinds of dependencies or attachments you might have.
In this article, I’ll quickly show you how to calculate your own Part of Regeneration and Part of Dependency, with an example to make it crystal clear.
Part of Regeneration
This term refers to a concept that suggests a soul has a part of itself that is deeply focused on renewal and transformation. It represents the soul’s ability to renew itself, break free from old negative patterns (maybe even from past lives), and emerge stronger and more whole.
Think of it as your inner Phoenix, rising from the ashes. It’s that part of you that has the power to heal, grow, and reinvent yourself, even after facing profound challenges or crises. When you tap into your “Part of Regeneration,” you unlock the potential for profound personal and spiritual renewal. Old baggage gets burned away, allowing the true essence of who you are to shine through.
Part of Dependency
This, on the other hand, sheds light on the soul’s karmic journey to break free from unhealthy dependencies. It points to areas in our lives where we might be overly reliant on others or stuck in patterns from past lives that hold us back. This could show up as emotional clinginess, physical codependency, or even financial overdependence that keeps us from reaching our full potential. The “dependency lesson” is all about learning self-sufficiency and independence – teaching our souls to let go of relying on others in ways that stunt our growth.
In essence:
- Part of Regeneration: Focuses on growth, healing, and transformation.
- Part of Dependency: Involves overcoming attachments and becoming more self-sufficient, free from over-reliance on others.
The Part of Dependency is located directly opposite the Part of Regeneration. So if your Part of Regeneration is at 4 degrees of Sagittarius, your Part of Dependency would be at 4 degrees of Gemini.
Calculation
To calculate your Part of Regeneration, add your Ascendant and the cusp of the 8th house, then subtract your Moon’s position.
Let’s say your Ascendant is at 13 degrees of Aries, the cusp of your 8th house is at 24 degrees of Scorpio, and your Moon is at 29 degrees of Taurus.
Ascendant (ASC): Aries is the first zodiac sign, so the degree is 13.
8th House Cusp: Scorpio is the 8th sign of the zodiac. The starting degree of Scorpio is calculated as follows: 7 × 30 = 210, and adding 24 gives us 234. So, 24° Scorpio is 234° from 0° Aries in the zodiac.
Moon: Taurus is the 2nd sign of the zodiac. The starting degree of Taurus is calculated as follows: 1 × 30 = 30, and adding 29 gives us 59.
Now, add the Ascendant and 8th House Cusp:
13 (ASC) + 234 (8H cusp) = 247
Finally, subtract the Moon’s position:
247 – 59 = 188.
Final Calculation
Now let’s calculate where 188 degrees is from your Ascendant at 13° Aries.
Your Ascendant at 13° Aries is the starting point, so we add 188 degrees to it. The zodiac wheel has 360 degrees, so we’ll work modulo 360.
13+188=201.
Now determine which sign 201° corresponds to. The signs are divided as follows:
- Aries: 0°–29°
- Taurus: 30°–59°
- Gemini: 60°–89°
- Cancer: 90°–119°
- Leo: 120°–149°
- Virgo: 150°–179°
- Libra: 180°–209°
- Scorpio: 210°–239°
Since 201° falls within the range 180°–209°, it is in Libra.
- To find the exact position in Libra, subtract the starting degree of Libra (180°) from 201°:201−180=21
So, 188° from your Ascendant at 13° Aries is at 21° Libra.
Your Part of Regeneration is at 21° Libra and Part of Dependency at 21° Aries.
