Science or Hobby: How Real is Astrology?

Astrology consists of a plethora of belief systems. It links planets to twelve Zodiac signs. Originating from Babylonians, the Middle East, and Greece between the first and fifth century BCE, it represents a perfect example of pseudoscience, whose explanation is a system of assumptions, methods, and scientific theories. Although science has rejected it since there is no logical explanation for describing the universe, some believe there is a connection between astronomical phenomena and personal traits.

Around 30 percent of Americans believe that stars and planet position affect our daily lives. Over 90 percent of adults know their zodiac sign, and during one research, 70 percent of adults have expressed that they read their horoscope once a month.

Surveys reveal that Zodiac signs can range from secretive ones like Scorpios, materialistic as Capricorns, vain as Leos, and lazy as Tauruses. If you recognize yourself in these characteristics and are sluggish or unmotivated, you probably thought: ‘I wish there were someone to help me do my online homework.’ Feel free to turn to professional assistance and spare yourself your energy and stress around homework.

There are a lot of interesting facts you can learn and discover about yourself, though it’s up to you if you are going to believe in them. Despite not being scientifically proven, people continually invest in finding out more about themselves through mysticism and spirituality. Let’s see what you can learn about this topic!

Astrology as a Hobby

First, we will look at believing in a horoscope. People can use astrology to gain clarity and insight into somebody’s psyche or life by analyzing information and data we can easily find out from a person. Considering that it predicts the future by “supernatural” or mysterious means, it can provide a look into somebody’s destiny.

It can give us a sense of control because we can perceive and control the situation. We can blame outside forces for something good or bad that has happened. But all of it is an illusion. Astromancy states that your world becomes clear once you understand how the universe influences it. We can divide zodiac signs into twelve signs; each one corresponds to the star constellations.

There are lots of fun and intimidating facts about this domain. Did you know that fortune-tellers predicted the pandemic? Also, one astrologer had predictions that somebody born on the 20th of April 1889 would rise to power. That someone was Hitler.

In the U.S., Scorpio is the most common sign in the population (9.6 percent), and the least common sign is Aquarius (6.3 percent). World leaders are often Scorpios since they have qualities such as intuitiveness and assertiveness. US president Ronald Regan consulted the prophet before every significant decision and step he decided to take.

Pope Adrian VI. showed almost no excitement when he was elected. Why? Astrological studies he attended in his youth promised him he would become Pope. Pope Paul III decided to encourage soothsayers to come to Rome and work for him under his protection. One of them predicted the Pope’s death and the illness he would later die of.

People have been more interested in astrology during hard times. During the Great Depression in the U.S. and between the two world wars in Germany, many articles swamped the newspaper.

Water and fire signs consist of Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces, Sagittarius, Aries, and Leo. While Gemini, Libra, Aquarius, Taurus, Capricorn, and Virgo are air and earth signs.  If you want to create an accurate astrology chart, you need to gather information about your birth time. The sun motivates you to work towards your goals, dreams, and ego. The moon represents your emotional habits. If you are a curious person and like to research and explore, definitely dive into the layered world of astrology because you won’t be disappointed. On the other hand, many people deny the truthfulness of this discipline.

Bad Sides of Astrology

It gives different viewpoints about the cosmos, and nothing connected with astrology can be proven. Astrologists can have different opinions, and many of them can say something they think you want to hear. Their job is to make you come back for more.

Reading what is going to happen can influence your actions and make things worse for you. If you read in the newspaper that today will be your bad day, your brain will tell you that it will be that way.

It leads to new stereotypes. You have probably heard someone say, ‘Oh, you are so balanced, you must be a Libra,’ or ‘You know how to be strong- that’s such a Leo habit.’ Those sayings can be humorous to talk about and mention sometimes, but people don’t like to hear things that indirectly insult them in the long run.

When you start believing in it, you will become dependent on it. That’s simply just because you always want to know what’s going to happen next, and curiosity can make you feel imperfect, glum, or even a slight feeling of discomfort might appear.

Scientific Negation

Science, a practical activity that surrounds the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the natural and physical world, is widely accepted. It does not matter how much we like the idea of astrology because we need to take a look at the facts and abide by them as they are. So far, we cannot find documented cases in which astrology has contributed to scientific discovery.

Science is based on different hypotheses which require and follow evidence and ideas. On the other hand, astrologists don’t examine ideas they accept. With the minimum level of research, they ignore evidence that opposes their beliefs.

In Conclusion

Astrology can create spiritual meaning in life patterns and encourage reflection. Even though the traits of each sign could apply to anyone, what makes us unique is how we treat others and ourselves. As long as you don’t fixate on close-mindedness and think that your sign dictates your worth and future, it can be amusing to read and investigate what horoscopes and astrology prepared for you.

It can be overwhelming but creative and entertaining at the same time. Don’t strongly believe in zodiac signs and what kind of person you will become based on the predictions. Think outside the box and try to understand where it came from and what was its first significance. It’s all about exploring and finding what intrigues your brain and makes you think. Whatever you decide to accept, the big question remains unanswered: ’’How can we know what to believe?’’
