I usually don’t write posts like this, but I felt like I had to share my experience with Wondershare Filmora because I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through what I did. If you’re considering paying for Filmora, please read this before you waste your money.
For context, I’ve been editing videos for a while. I used to rely heavily on CapCut, which honestly worked well for me. The problem is that CapCut has become more expensive over time, and since I remembered using Filmora years ago (back when it was a pretty solid app), I figured I’d give it another try. That turned out to be a huge mistake.
What I Paid For
I decided to go for the Wondershare Filmora Advanced Annual Plan. According to their website, this should include:
- Transferable Device license
- Filmora AI Credits
- Advanced Plan access
- Cloud Storage Basic Plan
- Cloud Storage
- AI-Credits Service
- Filmora “normal model AI features rights”
Sounds good on paper, right? I thought I’d have access to advanced editing tools, AI features, cloud options, and a decent level of support.
The Problems Started Immediately
As soon as I downloaded the app, I wanted to try out the text-to-speech feature. This is one of the main reasons I paid for the plan in the first place. To my surprise, instead of having unlimited access, I only had 400 credits left. That was a shock because I thought AI credits were unlimited under this plan. And the voices were actually terrible, much worse than in CapCut, which felt like a double hit by a sword in a single day.
Fine, I thought, maybe I can just upload my own voice and then use the voice effects to make changes. But every single time I clicked “Voice effects,” the app completely crashed and closed itself. No warning, no fix, just straight-up unusable. At this point, I felt helpless and scammed.
Refund? Forget About It
At this point, Filmora was useless to me. I only wanted it for its sound and voice features, and they didn’t even work. So, naturally, I requested a refund.
They denied within a single day.

I tried again. This time, I uploaded a screen recording to show exactly what was happening. Once again, they refused my refund. The funny thing is that the attachment can’t be larger than 10MB. I recorded a short 10-second screen recording on my iPhone 15 Plus, and it still came out to 21MB, so I had to use online video compressors just to send it. How tricky.
I then attempted to contact their support team. Their live chat doesn’t even exist (or at least, it’s nowhere to be found). Instead, I had to wait a day and a half just for an email reply. When they finally responded, they told me to send them a log by going into my iPhone profile → clicking feedback → and attaching the file.
The problem? When you click “attachment,” it only lets you send screenshots, not screen recordings. So I couldn’t even give them the evidence they wanted.
I emailed them again, explained this issue, and waited. Their next reply? They asked for the log again. Basically, they dragged me into an infinite loop of requests with no real solution.

From what I have read, seen, and experienced myself, Filmora will do whatever it takes not to issue a refund. They just want to keep the money.
The Fake “Free Trial”
On top of this, I later read that Filmora offers a 7-day free trial. Sounds great, right? Except it’s not actually free. They will charge you, and if you try to cancel, good luck getting your money back. It’s misleading and, in my opinion, borderline scammy behavior.
Don’t Waste Your Money
After all this, I can confidently say I do not recommend Filmora to anyone. Their app is broken, their AI credit system is misleading, their “free trial” isn’t free, and their customer support is some of the worst I’ve ever experienced.
I went into this hoping for an affordable alternative to CapCut, but what I got was a headache, wasted time, and wasted money. If you value your time, your money, and your sanity, stay away from Filmora.
There are plenty of other editing tools out there that won’t scam you with false advertising, nonexistent support, and unusable features. Learn from my mistake and skip this app altogether. And honestly, CapCut is much better. Filmora may try to lure you in with discounts and promotions, but don’t take the bait, just avoid them.
