If you’ve come across Hekate in astrology and want to find her in your birth chart, you’ll need to add asteroid Hekate (100) to your chart manually. Most basic natal chart calculators leave asteroids out unless you select them yourself.
I became curious about Hekate after seeing her mentioned several times, so of course I checked mine. She sits at 18° Gemini, exactly conjunct my Lilith in the 3rd house and trine my Moon in the 12th. Considering my lifelong fascination with dreams, witches, mysticism, and everything hidden or strange, that placement caught my attention immediately.
Hekate (100) in Astrology
Hekate, also spelled Hecate, is the Greek goddess of magic, witchcraft, ghosts, crossroads, the night, and transitions. She is often depicted carrying torches and has a long association with thresholds and places where roads meet.
In astrology, asteroid Hekate (100) is linked with occult interests, intuition, hidden knowledge, major turning points, and an attraction to subjects that sit outside ordinary everyday experience. Her placement can also be interesting in charts of people drawn to witchcraft, divination, mediumship, or working with dreams.
Close aspects to the Moon, Lilith, Sun, Chiron, Pluto, Mars, Ascendant, or MC can make Hekate more prominent in the chart, especially with an orb of around 2° or less.
The house shows where these themes are concentrated. Hekate in the 3rd house, for instance, can connect them with the mind, communication, writing, or siblings, while the 8th and 12th houses bring her closer to occult study, dreams, psychic sensitivity, death, and hidden experiences.
How to Find Hekate in Your Birth Chart
Step 1: To find Hekate in your birth chart, go to Astro-Seek’s asteroid calculator and enter your birth date, exact birth time, and birthplace.
Step 2: Add Hekate (100): Find Hekate, asteroid number 100, in the asteroid selection and add it to your chart.
Step 3: Generate your birth chart: Once the chart appears, find the Hekate symbol or asteroid number and note its zodiac sign, degree, and house.
Then check for close aspects to your natal planets and angles.
For asteroids, I personally use a small orb. Around 2° or less is my preference, and exact aspects get my attention immediately.
Reading Your Hekate Placement
Start with the house.
The house describes where Hekate themes are concentrated. In the 3rd house, for example, they may come through writing, dreams, information, communication, siblings, or unusual experiences during short trips. In the 8th house, Hekate can have a stronger connection with taboo subjects, occult study, death, psychology, and transformation.
- Hekate in the 12th house is especially interesting for dreams, psychic experiences, solitude, hidden knowledge, and the unconscious.
- Then look at aspects.
- Hekate conjunct the Moon can make her symbolism very emotional and instinctive. Dreams and intuition may become especially important.
- Hekate conjunct Lilith can intensify an attraction to taboo subjects, witchcraft, sexuality, autonomy, or parts of yourself that other people find difficult to understand.
- With Hekate-Pluto, I would look at experiences involving power, survival, endings, obsession, and major personal transformations.
- Hekate touching the Ascendant or MC places her much closer to visible parts of your identity or life direction.
My Hekate Placement
My Hekate is at 18° Gemini in the 3rd house, exactly conjunct my Lilith at 18° Gemini. She also forms an exact trine to my 18° Aquarius Moon in the 12th house. Seeing those three points connected immediately made sense to me.
I’ve always had vivid dreams, including dreams that felt like warnings and dreams involving people I had never met. I get strange flashes of insight, and my interest in witches, mysticism, astrology, and darker subjects has followed me for decades.
The 3rd and 12th house connection is especially interesting to me because it links communication and the mind with dreams and everything happening beneath conscious awareness.
I already have Pluto in the 8th house and Pisces Rising, so finding Hekate tied exactly to Lilith and my 12th-house Moon added another piece to a theme that was already very obvious in my chart.
And the timing made me laugh. TikTok suddenly started flooding me with Hekate content shortly before I decided to calculate her placement. Make of that synchronicity whatever you will.
Hekate Asteroid Aspects Worth Checking
After finding Hekate in your birth chart, I would check close aspects to:
- Moon
- Lilith
- Pluto
- Chiron
- Sun
- Mars
- Ascendant
- Midheaven
I would also look at Hekate in the 1st, 3rd, 8th, and 12th houses, especially if your chart already has strong Scorpio, Pisces, Pluto, Neptune, or Lilith themes.
And if asteroid astrology sends you down a rabbit hole, Hekate is only the beginning. Circe (34), Medusa (149), and Persephone (399) are also fascinating asteroids to add to your birth chart.
