On March 9, 2023, Petr Pavel took the oath and became president of the Czech Republic. As a Czech, I continuously followed the entire presidential campaign in order to learn as much as possible about both candidates, Pavel and Babiš.
Here are some of the most interesting facts about the Czech president, along with his weight, height, religion, zodiac sign, and net worth. This article is informative and entertaining in nature and does not reflect my personal opinions about Petr Pavel.
Basic Facts
Petr Pavel was born on November 1, 1961, in the city of Planá in what was then Czechoslovakia. In 1975, he enrolled in the Military Gymnasium after completing primary school. From 1975 to 1983, he studied at the High Military School of the Ground Forces.
He took part in various foreign military operations and was recognized for his contributions with several awards and prestigious foreign honors.
He made a public declaration of his intention to run for the presidency of the Czech Republic on September 6, 2022. He won in the first round of the presidential election on January 14, 2023, and advanced to the second round. He won against Andrej Babiš and was elected as the president of the Czech Republic after winning the second round of the election held on January 27 and 28, 2023.
Petr Pavel’s zodiac sign is Scorpio, and his life path number is 2. Pavel’s height is 183 cm (6 feet), and his weight, believe it or not, is 94 kg (207 lb.)
He speaks Czech, English, French, and Russian and is not religious. By the way, did you know that the Czech Republic is one of the most atheist countries?
Net Worth
People are always curious about the net worth of public figures such as politicians, presidents, singers, and actors. Petr Pavel’s estimated net worth falls within the range of $1-$5 million, although there is no official data available, and the numbers are only estimates.
Even so, he is a very modest man who does not live in a luxurious mansion or palace, nor does he boast about luxury watches, cars, or suits on social networks. If you met him on the street, you probably wouldn’t even notice him if you didn’t know who he was.
Family
Petr Pavel lives with his wife Eva Pavlová, whom he married in 2004. He is the father of two sons with his first wife Hana. He lives in a small village north of Prague in a modest house, and according to his neighbors, he is very friendly and outgoing, like every other resident of that village.
According to his Tweets, he has a cat named “Micka” (Czech diminutive for “a cat.”) He shared photos of his cat on social media when he was sick during the presidential campaign, so it’s obvious he has a good relationship with her.
Pavel’s family describes him as someone who loves traditional Czech food (including beer), motorbikes, and nature. Furthermore, his wife describes him as a very knowledgeable, experienced, honest, and goal-oriented man who not only talks but also acts. Well, it makes a lot of sense for someone who has been in the military all his life!
Interesting Facts About Petr Pavel
Do you love interesting facts about famous people? I do, and here are five of the most interesting things about the Czech president.
The Micka Cat
Petr Pavel’s genuine affection for his cat Micka endeared him to numerous voters throughout his presidential campaign, particularly those who adore animals. Many supporters of this candidate feel that a fondness for animals is indicative of a fondness for people as well.
Pavel’s Micka, who is dearly loved by her human companion, will become the inaugural feline resident of Prague Castle in the Czech Republic—for the first time in the history of the country!
It’s not known if he’s had the cat since she was little or if he adopted her, but it’s easy to tell from the photos that he loves her.
Attitude Towards The LGBT Community
Already during the presidential campaign, Petr Pavel openly admitted that he had no problem with the LGBT community. On the contrary, he supports same-sex marriage and wants equal rights for all persons, regardless of their orientation.
His opponent, Andrej Babiš, was of the same opinion and also supported the LGBT community. Both of these candidates were well-regarded in the eyes of people from the Czech LGBT community.
Petr Pavel, as previously mentioned, doesn’t adhere to any particular religion and has a liberal outlook toward various matters, including LGBT.
His Communist History
It is not uncommon for politicians to have a diverse political past, and Petr Pavel is no exception. Before serving as the Czech President, he had a successful career in the Czech Army, where he rose to the rank of General. He also served as the Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces and as a member of NATO’s Military Committee.
While it is true that Pavel was a member of the Communist Party in the 1980s, he has since distanced himself from the party’s ideology and has publicly stated that he regrets his involvement. Even so, some people don’t like this because they believe that once you become a communist, you will be one forever.
Personally, I have a different opinion and believe that everyone makes mistakes or bad decisions.
Passion For Motorbikes
Petr Pavel’s passion for motorbikes is not a secret, and he has openly talked about it in interviews. He once shared that riding a motorcycle gives him a sense of freedom and helps him relax after a long day at work.
Despite his busy schedule as the Czech President, Petr Pavel still makes time to indulge in his passion for motorbikes. He has been spotted taking rides around the countryside, and once, he even said that “if he could, he would come to the Czech castle on a motorbike.”
Final Words
Petr Pavel has both admirers and detractors, which is not uncommon since it’s impossible to satisfy everyone. To learn more about him, you can check out his Twitter account @prezidentpavel.
